1. Carbon Emissions Reduction Statement for Empathy View Healthcare Services Ltd: Commitment to Achieving Net Zero​

At Empathy View Healthcare Services Ltd, we are dedicated to providing exceptional health and social care services while simultaneously mitigating our environmental impact. As a provider of domiciliary care and supported living services, we recognise the critical importance of sustainability and are committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

1.2. Baseline Emissions Footprint

In our inaugural Carbon Reduction Plan, we will conduct a comprehensive assessment of our carbon emissions for the reporting year 2025. This baseline year was chosen as it marks our initial foray into formal carbon measurement, setting the stage for future emissions reduction strategies.

1.3. Scope 1 Emissions

In 2025, our Scope 1 emissions will primarily stem from our company vehicles. We acknowledge our responsibility in managing and mitigating these direct emissions.

​

Empathy View Healthcare Services Ltd does not have operational control over any company facilities in 2025. We rent company facilities and rent an office space without any direct responsibility for energy consumption, costs and fugitive emissions lying with the Landlord.

1.4. Scope 2 Emissions

Given our operational structure, Empathy View Healthcare Services Ltd will have no Scope 2 emissions sources in 2025.

1.5. Scope 3 Emissions

Scope 3 emissions, accounting for 90% of our total emissions, encompass various categories including business travel, operational waste, and upstream transportation and distribution. These areas represent significant opportunities for reduction and optimization in our carbon footprint.

2. Emissions Reduction Targets

​

To guide our journey towards Net Zero, we have established ambitious carbon reduction targets:

 

Carbon Intensity Reduction Targets:

• By 2027, we aim to reduce our carbon intensity to less than 23.5 kgCO2e per £1,000 revenue, reflecting a 35% reduction from our 2023 baseline.

• By 2030, our target is to further decrease carbon intensity to less than 17.5 kgCO2e per £1,000 revenue, marking a 50% reduction from our baseline level.

 

Absolute Emissions Reduction Target:

• Aligned with NHS' "Carbon Footprint Plus" target, we commit to reducing our total Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions by 70% by 2036 to 2039. Our aim is to decrease emissions to less than 23 tCO2e.

3. Carbon Reduction Initiatives

• Switch to LED lighting: We have switched all our internal lighting to low voltage LEDs. This has increased the lifespan of the bulbs by around 500%.

• Re-use and recycle: We already have a policy of re-use and recycle within our business operations. Currently 90% of the cardboard packaging that we use is manufactured using recycled material.

​

• Commitment to the United Nations Global Compact (action on human rights and climate change): Empathy View Healthcare Services Ltd is committed to the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact on human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. We express our commitment to making the UN Global Compact and its principles as part of the strategy of our company.

• Route Optimisation: As part of our commitment to reducing carbon emissions, our care company will employ route optimisation to enhance the efficiency of our service delivery. By utilising advanced route planning software, we can determine the most efficient travel routes for our care workers. This initiative will help us to minimize travel distances, reduce fuel consumption, and decrease idle times. The implementation of route optimisation is expected to lead to significant reductions in CO2 emissions, supporting our goal of achieving a more sustainable and environmentally friendly operation.

• Carpool: Empathy View Healthcare Services Ltd will introduce an incentive scheme to get employees to carpool to work. Any car poolers will be entered into a chance to win a voucher once per month.

• Reducing Water Usage: Empathy View Healthcare Services Ltd commit to reducing our water usage by 30% in our facility by 2030
